Celebrate the traditions of storytelling with Kejimkujik. On Parks Day, join in the Kejimkujik Storytelling Festival for a day of activities with storytellers and writers.

1:00 – 2:00 pm at Merrymakedge Beach under the old Canteen Shelter
A fun, enlightening, interactive reading of the book “Mother Nature Knows…” with children’s book author/illustrator Kelly Foxton.
2:00 – 4:00 pm Merrymakedge Beach under the old Canteen Shelter

6:00 – 7:30 pm Campfire Circle P2 in Jeremy’s Bay Campground.
Writer’s Campfire – join Gaspereau Press authors who will be reading from
their works – inspired by nature. Lemon loaf and tea will be served!

Soren Bondrup-Nielsen
Born in Denmark and immigrated to Canada at the age of 13, Soren is a
professor of Ecology and Conservation Biology at Acadia University and author of
Winter on Diamond, Winter Nature and his most recent, Merging: Contemplations
on Farming and Ecology from Horseback.
Shalan Joudry
A writer, performance artist, and storyteller, Shalan works as a
cultural interpreter and community ecologist at Bear River First
Nation, Nova Scotia. “Generations Re-merging” is her first book
Basma Kavanagh
Basma is a painter, poet, and letterpress printer who originally
from Nova Scotia. Distillō is her debut poetry collection.
8:00 – 9:00 pm Amphitheatre P2 in Jeremy’s Bay Campground
In the tradition of old-time storytelling, Mike Parker, author of “Guides of
the North Woods” and “Wood Chips & Beans”, will recount stories about life
in the lumber camps and on the trail of moose and trout in the land of the
Tent Dwellers.
9:30 – 11:30 pm Sky Circle P1 in Jeremy’s Bay Campground.
Drumming under the stars! Let the beat of All Nations Drummers call down the
stories from the stars. Jennie will be on hand to help you observe the stars!
